Vacationing in Antigua and Barbuda

Antigua and Barbuda are located near the top of the chain of Caribbean islands known as the Leeward Islands. Because of Antigua and Barbuda’s proximity to the equator, the weather here is warm all year round, and tourists love the seasonal sun. Vacationing in Antigua and Barbuda are one of the most sought after Caribbean’s premier destinations for tourism.

Like most of the other Caribbean islands, tourism is the main industry in Antigua and Barbuda. English is the official language. Antiqua and Barbuda used to be a part of the British empire, so if you travel here you’ll still see a heavy British influence, as well as an America one, since the United States brings many tourists to this country every year.

One of the best times of year for vacationing in Antigua and Barbuda is during August when Carnival is occurring. Carnival is a national celebration so you can take a break from the beaches to see parades and pageants, try great festival foods, and even participate in fun contests. Calypso and Soca music are important in Antigua and Barbuda.

However, if you simply enjoy beaches, you certainly have your pick in while vacationing in Antigua and Barbuda. Locals like to joke that there are 365 beaches—one for every day of the year. They aren’t far from the mark. You can head to the local public beaches, look for a hotel with its own private beach, or even take a charter to one of the small islands away from the larger islands for your own beach paradise.

The beaches on Barbuda are beautiful and secluded with most of the tourists coming here for some much needed peace and quiet. The shorelines of both islands are greatly indented, with beaches, lagoons, and natural harbours. Antigua boasts a beautiful, deeply indented shoreline with many natural harbours and beaches. Vacationing in Antigua and Barbuda is perfect for those looking to have some fun in the sun.

  If you plan to do more than lounge about on the beach, a rental car is a necessity for getting around Antigua.  While most vacationing in Antigua and Barbuda come for its beaches, there are many opportunities for sightseeing and active pursuits as well. The island combines charming towns with cobblestone streets with old forts.The island of Antigua is called Land of Wadadli by locals.

Antigua Yacht Club Marina is one of the largest marinas on the island offering a full yacht services, moorings, shops and restaurants. The most magnificent yachts and vessels are based in the island during the winter season which is characterized by important and worldwide events. The Boat Show in December and the Antigua sailing week and Classic Regatta in April is also a great time to be vacationing in Antigua and Barbuda.

Shimmering sandy beaches,bright sunshine and a laid-back attitude, it is then no surprise that vacationing in Antigua and Barbuda, is today one of the Caribbean’s most popular tourist spots. Though small, this island has many hidden treasures awaiting those who visit here.
